Description

You know what your research student should be doing, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening. Despite your best efforts to encourage good habits for your student, it does not work. Why is this, and what can you do to make completing a PhD easier for your students and for you?

Students attending the "Seven Secrets" workshop, by Dr Hugh Kearns from Flinders University, have consistently reported a marked improvement in their progress towards completing their PhD. Hugh is a highly acclaimed, entertaining and motivational speaker, who has now developed a version for supervisors.

This workshop has been rated by previous attendees as an average of 4.9 out of 5 for satisfaction with presenter, and 74% rated it '5' out of 5 for usefulness.

It gives supervisors practical strategies to deal with common problems such as:
• supervisor/student relations
• dealing with writer’s block
• attitude (or lack thereof!) in relation to the PhD
• getting your student to seek help when they are stuck
• the student who never has enough time
• treating the PhD like a job
• keeping on going when the going gets tough

Who is it for?
Supervisors of research students at any point in their candidature.

When and Where Is it?
09:30am to 12:30pm on Wednesday 28th January, in the Lecture Theatre, Hadyn Ellis Building, Maindy Rd. Refreshments will be provided.
